The holidays can be such a lonely time for converts who don't have Muslim family or friends to celebrate with – more so for those whose families aren't supportive of their conversion. The same goes for anyone who's living alone in a new place, be it students, immigrants, etc. This Eid, we're encouraging people to invite a convert to spend Eid with their families, to truly feel the spirit of Eid and experience what it's like to have a community.
This is not new to Islamic tradition. In fact, upon moving from Makkah to Madinah, the Prophet (S)'s followers were met with so much love and generosity from the people of Madinah – who not only opened up their homes to strangers but shared everything with them. This is the true spirit of sisterhood/brotherhood, and one we hope to foster far and wide inshallah!
With that said, if you know anyone who will be lonely this Eid, invite them over! If you don't know anyone but are willing to host, reach out to your local masjid and ask around! Also, check out the official Facebook Event page for this event, where you can connect with people looking to spend Eid with someone!
If you are a convert, or someone whose living alone and have no one to spend Eid with, please post in this Facebook Event Page and we will work hard to pair you with someone in your area, inshallah!
Eid Mubarak, HH Fam! May your holiday be blessed and filled with joy, love, and sisterhood!
Please help us get this message far and wide, in an effort to eliminate a lonely Eid for people! Share it with your friends on social media, your local Muslim organizations, masajid, etc.
