It's always a treat when Ahmed comes out with me to shoot! We decided to go out to Top of the Rock for an iconic NYC shot and it was *such* a beautiful, sunny day. In continuation with my last style guide post about mixing suit separates, I paired a burgundy blazer with plaid wool pants that have the slightest hint of dark red in them to keep the look cohesive. Add a leather belt and pumps and you're good to go!
When coordinating my look with Ahmed I always start with him first since he has less options (cause I'm clearly a clothes hoarder) and pick out a timeless look that's great for the season. You can't go wrong with a simple knit and tailored pants. I gave him a monochrome look for the same reasons I wear one - to lengthen and create instant chic-ness (Can guys be chic? I don't know... lol).
Now that I have him in all navy (with brown shoes to match) it's time to pick out my look. I want to wear something that complements without being matchy-matchy, (unless that's you're thing, and in that case, go crazy!) so I opt for a color in the same tone as his. Since he's in navy, I had other dark, jewel or neutral tones to choose from. I went for burgundy since it's a great complementing color but to keep the look from being too dark, I went for a cream colored turtleneck inside and lighter colored pants and pumps. There you have it! A look that's cohesive and looks great in photos. Questions on how to dress your man for your big shoot? Leave them below! xoxo, Mel
