Purple has always been my favorite color, but I *rarely* ever wear it. If I do, it's usually a jewel toned royal violet because I almost never wear pastels. But - since it's fashion week, I decided to break from tradition and try something new. With medium skin and warm undertones, pastels can be tricky to pull off - in fact, you'll see my skin looking more orange than usual in some of the photos. The key was making sure the hijab I wore had enough colors that compliment my skin tone – like the beiges and taupes – to offset the pastel.
The sweater is so beautiful isn't it? I loved the detailing of the knit and the sleeves of course. I paired it with my J.Crew plaid pants from last winter and I was supposed to wear these mules in white from Vince Camuto, but they didn't come in time! Adorable, right? Instead I kept it safe with my camel suede pumps, YSL crossbody and the Festival Floral Hijab. Shop all our beautiful prints and get in on the purple trend – the Color of the Year – with our curated collection! Enjoy! xoxo, Mel
