You may remember my last visit to the Guerlain Spa at the Waldorf Astoria, but in case you haven't heard, the Waldorf closed for major renovations, which means the Guerlain Spa moved! Their new home is none other than the iconic Plaza Hotel! Their official grand opening is set for October 25th 2017.
I made my way over to the spa last month for a fun girl's day out with Heba (@heba_jay) followed by afternoon tea at The Palm Court in the main lobby of The Plaza.
Major hijabi news alert: the Guerlain Spa offers weekly “Ladies Only” hours from 9am to 1pm on Mondays to ensure a private experience for guests, aka absolute bliss for Muslim women! Feel free to lounge in their relaxation room sipping on tea or get your steam and sauna on without having to worry about hijab!
As soon as we arrived we were greeted with spa water and a delicious macaroon. We were then escorted to the women's changing area that came equipped with everything you'd ever need - from a complimentary shoe shine to garment steaming and of course all Guerlain products including their delectable perfumes.
We were both treated with The Black Orchid Treatment, an 80-minute ultra-premium facial featuring the new technology of the Orchidée Impériale Black Cream with Blackimmune technology – the result of 15 years of research from the experts at Guerlain (Ask for Alina, she was *amazing*). Another new treatment is a hot and cold massage combination – a top seller in their Middle Eastern spas!
After our incredible facials (which included a mini shoulder, hand and foot massage by the way!) we enjoyed a complimentary make-up refresher using all Guerlain make-up products (hellooooo amazing Guerlain bronzer!) and made our way downstairs to The Palm Court for afternoon tea. How beautiful is this place?!
The afternoon tea spread was *incredible.* Let's start with the selection of teas - it was almost impossible to choose between their impressive selection of black teas, green teas, oolong teas, white teas, red teas or infusions. After *much* deliberation (I love myself a bougie tea menu, lol) I went with the Lavender Oolong and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect amount of fragrant lavender without tasting like soap (haha, it's happened).
The food menu included scrumptious scones with cream, lemon curd and preserves followed by your choice between two different menus that serve both sandwiches & savories as well as pastries & sweets. We got both of course ;)
Everything was served on a beautiful two-tier platter and our waiter knew to replace anything that contained pork or alcohol without us having to ask, which was a huge bonus.
My favorites included the Thyme Roasted Prime Rib Sandwich, Lobster Roll, Deviled Organic Egg Salad and English Cucumber. I'm not much of a sweets person, but I did love the Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake as well as the Lychee and Rose Water Macaron. You can check out the full menu here
How stunning is this picture-worthy table setting? We got in TONS of photos. TONS. Too many, lol.
Aren't we glowing!? Next time you're in New York, do yourself a favor and book a treatment at The Guerlain Spa, you won't regret it! It'll also give you the opportunity to explore the iconic Plaza and be sure to stop by The Palm Court for a quintessential New York high tea experience.
Huge thank you to the Guerlain Spa and The Palm Court for a much needed day of pampering and indulgence!
