As salaamu alaikum and hello everyone!
I'm excited over here because I've been able to pull out my heavier cardigans, boots and other warmer apparel and finally lean into autumn. The temperatures have dropped where I live (after a very warm most-of-October), daylight savings time is in effect, and we're in that time of year that is a modest-dressing women's dream (at least for me).
I'm also at stage in life where my kids are definitely not little anymore (ages 19, 16 and 12), and my daughter (the 16-year-old) and I routinely share each other's pullovers, knit cardigans and flow-y sweater vests. Let me tell you  she looks better in ALL my clothes! Ahhh, to be sweet 16 again. But, I digress!
I hope you are all doing well, my friends! The Haute Hijab blog has been churning out some stellar articles and posts for you, if I do say so myself, and November (Insha'Allah) will prove to be no different! I had hoped to bring you articles highlighting the plight of Uighur Muslims in China and on Kashmir last month. But, we had to push both articles to this month, so stay tuned for those. We also concluded (for now) our "15 Things You May Not Know About ... " team series. (Here's mine!) We may revisit this series once HH brings on more team members!
Here are a few of my favorites articles from last month, in case you missed them the first time around:
  • Real Talk with the Village Auntie – On Intimacy Between Married Couples, by Layla Abdullah-Poulos
  • Love Thy Neighbor – Talking with Jewish Supporters at NYU's Jummah Prayers, by Gizelle Begler
  • Caring for Natural Hair While Wearing Hijab – an Interview with IG's 4c Hijabi, by Layla Abdullah-Poulos
  • What No One Will Tell You About Marriage | Melanie's Musings, by Melanie Elturk
  • Coming this month are a series of reflections on the Prophet Muhammad (saw). It's the month of Rabi'Awwal, the Prophet's birth month, and a number of us have written posts inspired by the Prophet Muhammad's (saw) experiences, advice, actions and deeds. We couple this on the blog with a few articles exploring the theme of gratitude and charity, including an interview with LaunchGood co-founder Amany Killawi, and a reflection on a certain passage from Surah Ar-Rahman and more.
Can't forget fashion! Our fashion writer, Rowayda, has a two-parter on layering  the basics of layering and essential pieces for layering. We also have some posts coming up talking about exciting, new HH product development. And, November is the month to get "That Chiffon Glow!" We've got stunning chiffon hijabs in autumnal colors coming your way! You're not going to want to miss out on this!
Check out the finalists from last month's Prints fall photo contest!
Finally, something that is a long time coming is a post dedicated to our blog writers  Rowayda, Layla, Danah and Nargis. You've been reading their articles for months now, and now you can get to know them better. They are integral members of the Haute Hijab family, and the wealth of knowledge and experience they bring to their writing and research is impressive. These articles don't write themselves. They take a lot of hard work from start to finish, and I want you to *meet* the writers who bring these stories to you.
We spend a lot of time each month (and months ahead of time) as a team brainstorming ideas, talking about what is happening in our Muslim communities, keeping an eye on national and world news and paying attention to you – our community – to see what you are interested in. All this, in addition to focusing on what we are doing at Haute Hijab, informs the posts we write and publish each month. If you have stories to share or articles you'd like to see us write, issues you'd like to see us cover, please comment below!
I hope you have a great month! And, like I tell my kids all the time, may we all be good, make good choices and say Bismillah-hir-rahman-nir-raheem.
    Editorially yours,
    Dilshad
