"Easy, breezy, beautiful…CoverGirl."
CoverGirl has shattered glass ceilings with their new line of brand ambassadors! Beauty is all about diversity and CoverGirl embraces this concept. The brand has always promoted diversity and constantly strives towards inclusivity by searching for new ways to demonstrate this powerful message. By appointing brand ambassadors from different backgrounds, CoverGirl seeks to be inclusive by not prescribing to society standards of the beauty world. Their recent appointment of the beautiful and renowned Nura Afia as their brand ambassador for their latest campaign is an amazing step forward for CoverGirl, as well as for Muslim women around the world!
We're SO excited for Nura and she's no stranger to HH! Not only is she one of our favorite people on earth, she's wearing the Premium Jersey Wrap in Orchid during her CoverGirl debut and practically *lives* in our Jersey Hijabs!
The Denver native has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, as well as another whopping 210,000+ on her YouTube channel. Whether it’s her makeup vids or simple hijab tutorials, Nura has become an icon in the online hijabi world, raking in over 13 million views on her instructional videos. The 23 year-old Moroccan beauty guru has been beauty blogging for over six years, and has caught the attention of Refinery29 and Revlon. It's no surprise CoverGirl came knocking on her door, who appreciated her unique approach to beauty by incorporating both style and faith.
Nura is the brand ambassador for the So Lashy! #Lashequality mascara campaign, alongside James Charles, Amy Pham, Chloe + Halle, Sofia Vergara and Katy Perry. The mascara is specifically designed to accentuate anyone’s lashes, regardless of length or color, so it's no coincidence CoverGirl chose to designate such a diverse group of individuals to represent the campaign.
Nura’s representation of Muslim hijabi women is a stride for our community as much as it is a personal accomplishment for her. By appearing in a national CoverGirl commercial, as well as a huge billboard in New York City's Times Square, she appeals to a massive audience and subtly works toward normalizing hijab in the mainstream. It's also an affirmation of the positive way in which the internet is allowing communities to thrive and achieve representation.
