You asked, Essra answered! We asked for your questions for our final post with 'It Girl' Essra (we're sooo sad to see her go!!) and she's answered them below! Be sure to stay updated with Essra long after her reign as 'It Girl' on Instagram @essra_azim and her blog www.valessie.com!
What’s your favorite food?
I know this is really unhealthy but my favorite food is french fries. The best fries I’ve ever had was in this small family own restaurant in St. Joseph, a small town in Michigan. Imagine oven baked parmesan french fires... Ahhh I’m drooling.
Why are you so gorgeous?
Tehehe stop it!!! I actually get really shy when people compliment me. Sometimes I don’t know what to say. I recently went to a fashion show and whenever people would compliment me I giggled nervously. But thank you, that’s very sweet of you <3
What’s the worst and best time of your life?
Hmm the worst time in my life, would have probably been in middle school. In 6th grade my family moved to New York and for the first time in my life I attended public school. It was a complete culture shock. It took me a while to adjust to the different environment but thank God I was able to get through it :) The best time, is when my family would all get together on Friday nights, order Papa John’s pizza and sit in front of the fire place. The simpler times are always the better times.
Can you please do a hijab tutorial?
I’ve been saying I’m going to do a hijab tutorial for a while and I will inshallah. I just hate seeing myself on camera... But I’ll be doing a hijab tutorial very soon :)
What’s your nationality?
I’m originally Egyptian :)
What are your plans after your time as 'It Girl' ends? Are you still going to pursue your fashion career?
Being a fashion blogger allowed me to work with some remarkable people. It’s opened so many doors, including my love for charity work and expressionist art. My dream is to become a fashion designer and a positive role model and I’m not giving up on my dreams!
Can you come visit me?
I would love to come visit you <3
What did you study?
I got my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University (Go Green)!
What made you consider hijab?
The biggest reason why I considered hijab at such a young age was due to my surrounding environment in Dubai. It was so common and welcoming to wear hijab that I didn't think twice.
What hijabs do you prefer for everyday the HH jersey wraps or HH Favorite Woven Wraps?
OMG hands down the jersey wraps!!! I can't tell you how many conversations I've had about the jersey wraps. They're simply the best!
What’s your best outfit for Eid in hot weather?
In hot weather you want to say away from layering. So, the best outfit for Eid in hot weather is a fancy maxi chiffon dress. You can accessorize with a belt, a bulk necklace, or whatever you want to make it your own. Add a pattern scarf and voila you have an amazing outfit :)
Can we be besties? Can we take a selfie together?
Yes of course…and… yes of course!!
How did you become It Girl?
I’ve known Melanie for a while now. I think what happened was when Haute Hijab asked for suggestions for the next 'It Girl' on Instagram someone suggested me.. and the rest was history.
Who's your fav cuddle buddy?
LOL, did someone say cuddling?!
Farewell… It’s not really a farewell; it’s more of a thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. Six months passed by so quickly, it seems like it was just yesterday that I became Haute Hijab’s 'It Girl.' I remember when Melanie first asked me, I was hesitant at first, but now that I look back it was honestly one of the best choices I’ve made. Being Haute Hijab’s 'It Girl' allowed me to interact and meet amazing people. It also opened a lot of doors for me to succeed in what I’ve always wanted to do. I’m at a loss for words but thank you for always inspiring me and reminding me that modest is the right choice. xoxo, Essra
